Happy Halloween from the Gulley's

Pumpkin Carving

Last night, we all carved pumpkins after dinner. Our friend Brad came over to have dinner & helped us carve the big pumpkin. Rhapsody & Bub even made a Mr. Potato Head Pirate pumpkin and Rhapsody & I made a light bright flashing bat pumpkin. Harry talked to us and played in his exersaucer the entire time and never fussed! We ended up with a kitty, a ghost, and a giant pumpkin with a face on each side.

Rhapsody in the bubbles

Bub took this picture the other night with his cell phone while Rhapsody was taking a bubble bath.

Halloween Parade

On Saturday, October 25, my mom and I took the kids to the City of Independence Halloween parade on the downtown square. We were able to get great seats right on the curb and I was able to take some great pictures. We could not have asked for better weather!! Both kids had a great time & Harry loved watching all of the cars and people go by. He was so good the entire time. Rhapsody, of course, loved all of the candy being thrown her way. She got lots of compliments on her costume, too.

Check out all of the parade pictures here.

Our Vacation photo...

Well, for several months Bub & I have planned an adult vacation to Houston. Originally, we were supposed to be going to attend a great friend's (Jessica Langley) wedding. However, the wedding was scheduled the weekend that Hurricane Ike came through and ravaged the city and the wedding had to be postponed. We could not attend the postponed date, due to other plans, so we decided to use our tickets and just fly down for the weekend before my birthday and enjoy time with Dad & Barbara.

After planning this for MONTHS and getting it all arranged so my mom could keep the kids, Tony and Ashley could stay at our place with the dog and we both took time off from work, we spent all day Friday 10/24 at Kansas City airport... and by all day I mean from 11 AM to 6 PM... before Continental decided to cancel the flight and refund everyone's money!!!

I guess the plane that landed to take us to Houston had a de-icer valve lock up on landing. The part was not available any where close, so they delayed the flight until 6 PM so they could fly it in from another city. While waiting, they encouraged everyone to head to the restaurant down the terminal and enjoy some lunch and a drink... For 4 drinks and an order of nachos, our tab was $84.29! Then we still had time to waste, so we ordered another round of drinks - $31.49! They charged Bub $7.99 for a shot of Jaegermeister!!!

Around 5 PM, they decided that it wasn't going to make it and just cancelled the flight!! Then, they told us there was not another flight available that would get us to Houston before 11 PM or we could go the next day. With two young children and all of these people helping us out... it just wouldn't work. After speaking with Continental for over half an hour, they offered to refund our full fare within 30 days.

So, I hope you enjoy our vacation photo of our super long, expensive day at KCI Airport!

All I want for Christmas is....

Fall Fun

These are just a couple of fun pictures we have taken this fall. Sure to make you smile!!

Mr. & Mrs. Doug Castle

Bub's cousin, Doug Castle, Jr, got married this weekend to Jamie Scheets. My mom kept Harry so we could take Rhapsody and have a good time. Boy, did we have fun!!! The wedding was beautiful and the reception was amazing. The reception was at Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, KS and we had a great evening. Rhapsody danced until nearly 11 PM.... then she crashed out in the car on the way home.

Be sure you look at all of the wedding photos.

Rhapsody gets a haircut

Rhapsody got a haircut this weekend. She did great... since it was only her second haircut ever! Now she will begin going every couple of months... now that she will sit still!

Joe Joe turns five

One of Rhapsody's friends from school turned five over the weekend and I took the kids to his party at Rotary Park. They got to swing at a transformers pinata, play at the playground, eat dinner, play ball and just have fun! We were at the park for over 3 hours and they were both excellent and had tons of fun! Despite all that was going on, I was able to snap a few pics.

Check out the pictures here.

Harry's tunnel

I think this picture speaks for itself!!! :o)

Another box full of fun...

Harry recently had croup, so I sent Bub to the store to buy a new cool mist humidifier for his room. After we got it all set up, we found Rhapsody in the living room.... IN the humidifier box. I have no idea how she crammed herself in there, but she figured if Harry in box was fun then why not try this box also.... who needs toys???

Box full of fun

Rhapsody had been playing with this empty Pampers box for a couple of days... Harry got a hold of it and thought it was awesome because it made noise when he banged on it. Bub put Harry in the box and the rest is history....

Chubba Bubba and Princess Rhapsody

This picture really puts into perspective how well Harry is growing... he is going to bypass Rhapsody...

He cut his bottom two front teeth all the way through and 3 more are almost cut!! Hard to believe he is 7 months old....

Trey spends the night at our house 10/4 - 10/5/08

Trey came over to our house to spend the night for the very first time and he was excellent! Both children were very well behaved. On Saturday night, we took them to the new Bass Pro Shop that just opened near our house. Inside, there are live ducks and huge catfish as well as two humongous floors of the coolest outdoor gear available! They also have an indoor laser shooting range and the kids loved it... of course, I forgot my camera on the kitchen table :)

On Sunday morning, we took them out to Bub's Grandparents' farm near Atherton, Mo. It is only about a 20 minute drive, but it is so much fun!! Rhapsody rocked one of the hens to sleep and Trey LOVED the golf cart. One of Bub's Dad's friends also has a pumpkin patch out there and invited us to cut our own pumpkins... as many as we wanted. We took Rhapsody and Trey and they helped us fill up the bed of the truck with pumpkins. We all had a great weekend and an experince the children will remember!!

Princess Party

On October 4, Blue Springs Well Link hosted a Princess Party that raised money and awareness of dental health for children. My mom and I took Rhapsody and had the BEST time ever! This is an event that Blue Springs hosts each year on the first Saturday of October and I cannot wait to go back next year!

The entire high school was decorated like a castle and they had each room decorated for different events. There was a nail salon, make-up room, face painting, cookie decoration, jewelry class, Princess concert & dance party, crown making room and much more. The Tooth Fairy was also there taking photos with the girls & handing out toothbrushes.

Make sure you check out all of the princess photos.
